Poem by Steve Arnold (Powerful!)

Thank You Lord for what you’ve done for me,

sending Your Son to hang on a tree

I don’t deserve this Love, I don’t deserve this Grace,

that You would have Jesus die in my place

I am pitiful, I’m poor, I’m wretched and dark,

my prayers must seem annoying, like a neighbor’s dog’s bark

I’m sorry for the times I only prayed for MY blessings,

didn’t think about others needs or the trials they were facing

But You opened my eyes and I humbled my heart,

You stopped resisting my prayers and showed me Grace from the start

I draw close to You so that You will draw close to me,

the devil is tough, but Your Word says that he will flee

He will flee in an instant as your Word promises us so,

for those who will Love You with all their mind, strength and soul

I didn’t mention my heart because it felt so dark and fleshly,

so I started to read books by preachers like Spurgeon and Wesley

These great men were really just like me,

until YOU opened their eyes, the Truth, they began to see

Now they would preach for hours, to any that would listen,

but it was You that convicted souls and gave the Truth they were missing

This same truth is now, here in my land,

and it’s my conviction, my turn to take a stand

I stand up and preach, the true salvation of Christ,

to any that will listen, no matter the price

Whether being tossed in jail, for calling out sin,

or losing it all, including family and friends

I will not compromise, I will not waver,

I will not become the salt that loses its flavor

I thank You again, O Lord God on High,

Your Majesty will reign even after I die!
